The Duke I Once Knew by Olivia Drake

This was a second-chance romance with the governess.  I really liked Abby.  She was selfless and devoted to her family who didn’t deserve her.  I liked how Max changed.  When he first arrived at his estate, he was arrogant and a jerk.  As he grew closer to Abby, he reclaimed his old self that had been shoved behind a society mask.

The one thing I wished there was less of was Abby’s family.  They were so selfish and and arguing over who she got to act as an unpaid house maid to next!  They didn't think to give her the season she missed out on.

What a Widow Wants by Jenna Jaxon

Fanny has finished her morning for her cad of a husband.  She wants to embrace her new freedom that only a widow can have.  At a masquerade, Fanny encounters the man whose proposal she rejected years ago, Matthew, Lord Lathbury.

Matthew has one goal this season, to make Fanny his wife.  With Fanny doing everything she can do to set the tongues of the ton wagging, will Matthew be able to tame her?

What could have been a great second chance at love novel ended up with me screaming at the characters.  Fanny was selfish and annoying.  The book should have ended after the masquerade when Fanny rejects Matthew's proposal again.  Matthew should have found a new woman that would love him.

Not the Duke's Darling by Elizabeth Hoyt

This is the first book in the Greycourt series.  After reading much of the Maiden Lane series, I was delighted with the start to this new series.  I liked the characters.  Freya is a strong woman making her own way in the world after a huge family disgrace.

With this being the first book in a new series, it needs to have a beginning.  This is a strong beginning.

Love with a Notorious Rake by Karyn Gerrard

Aidan Wollstonecraft has been recovering from an addiction to opium at a private sanatorium ran by Dr. Gethin Bevan.  While there, Aiden starts to fall in love with his nurse, Cristyn Bevan.  His entire adult life has been one party to drown himself and escape his family's curse.

When he has recovered, Aiden decides he wants to make something of himself.  Aiden consults his father and grandfather and he is inserted into the role of an overseer at a corrupt mill.  His goal is to expose the illegal activities and shut down the mill.

Cristyn is stinging from Aiden's rejection and tells her father she wants to go to London to become a nurse.  Her father helps her get a position in a village with a fellow doctor.  She encounters Aiden at the mill.  Cristyn and Aiden have the opportunity to repair and renew their relationship.  Will Aiden be able to ignore the family curse and find his true love?

I really liked the historical detail in this book.  The main characters were different from the norm because Aiden is a recovering addict and Cristyn has enough practical training to be a doctor in her own right.  I thought the book was well written.

As I have not read the first two books (they are on my to-buy list now), I found the chapters that involved Aiden's family confusing.  Overall, I enjoyed reading this book.

Desire (Determination Trilogy #3) by Lesli Richardson

Desire is the last book in the Determination Trilogy.  It is written mostly from the point of view of Christopher.

I loved the relationship with Christopher, Shae, and Kevin.  There is just so much emotion in this book.  I didn't want to put it down and kept reading until it was done.  I was blown away.  The one thing I wish could have been part of the story was a little on Christopher's relationship with his brother.  Still, an amazing series.  I can't wait until the Devastation Trilogy.

Diligence (Determination Trilogy #2) by Lesli Richardson

Book 2 in the trilogy focuses on ShaeLynn and her relationship with Kevin, Christopher and her term as POTUS.  I loved her as President.  Shae is an amazing woman.  I love the dynamic of her relationships with Kevin and Christopher.

There is just so much emotion in this book.  We learn more about Shae and how her relationship with Christopher started and how they brought in Kevin.  The twists and turns of this book were amazing.  I loved the book so much.

Dignity (Determination Trilogy, #1) by Lesli Richardson

I have been waiting for this book since the Governor Trilogy ended.  I was curious about Kevin Markos and if he was as big of an ass off the camera as he was during the interview with Owen.

Kevin Markos lost his job as a highly respected conservative TV news host and commentator after a meltdown on air after an issue hit him too hard and when he was pressured to defend the perpetrators.  His past is about to catch up with him.  Twenty years ago, after a week with Christopher Bruunt, he had to walk away and never contact him again.  Now, Christopher is working with Democratic Senator ShaeLynn Samuels.  Christopher knows the one person that can help Shae win the POTUS is Kevin.

This book hits the full range of emotions.  There is so much depth in the characters.  Kevin was amazing.  He went on a full journey to discover that it was OK to be himself.  Christopher was just wow.  I liked how Shae connects the two.

San Francisco Longing by Lila Dubois

This book literally leaves you hanging.  I can't wait to see how this ends.  You are sucked down Christina's rabbit hole into a world where she has no experience.  The book is so well written and descriptive.  I loved the characters.  When it ended on a cliffhanger, I was screaming.  I can't wait for the rest of this trilogy.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by the author.  Thank you!

Decker by Eden Summers

This book opens by hitting with a hard punch and keeps delivering throughout the novel.  This is an amazing romantic suspense novel.  Decker is a member of a crime family that has been tasked with protecting the sister of the head of the organization.  There were several times in the book where I didn't expect the twists and turns the book took.

The Earl I Ruined by Scarlett Peckham

This is the second book in the Charlotte Street series.  I could not put the book down.

Lady Constance Stonewell writes a gossip column in secret exposing members of the ton.  She has accidentally ruined the Julian Haywood, Earl of Apthorp when he was counting on a piece of legislation to save his family from ruin.  Constance comes up with a plan that they stage a fake engagement to salvage his relationship.

Julian has secretly loved Constance for years.  Her column shattered his heart.  Julian reluctantly agrees to Constance's plan.  When Constance discovers that her fake fiancee is not "Lord Bore", she finds herself falling for Julian.

I loved this book as much as I did the first book in the series.  I liked that Constance was a strong heroine.  She wasn't afraid to be wild and didn't care about her reputation - the wilder the better.  Julian was the perfect match for her.  He had hidden depths that only Constance could bring out.

The Girl with the Sweetest Secret by Betina Krahn

This is a well-written book with colorful characters and a plot that takes twists and turns.  I enjoyed the American heroine, Frankie.  She doesn't want to be married but catches the eye of a German Duke.  The hero, Raynard, is a gossip and secret keeper in the ton.  He finds out what kind of person the Duke is and warns Frankie.  Her mother is a social climber who likes that her daughter has caught the eye of a Duke.

I liked the family dynamic in this novel.  The book was a great read.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher.  Thank you.

Owen by Melody Anne

I just could not get into the characters.  There was so much hurt and betrayal from when Owen left and stayed away or ten years.  Just stop.  I got it the first time.

I reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher.

The Duke of Kisses by Darcy Burke

I enjoyed reading this well-written book.  Francis "Fanny" Snowdon met David Langley when she was staying at her sister's estate over Christmas.  Only, Fanny told David that she was a housemaid and he told her that he was an apprentice to a steward.  There was an instant attraction that continues when the unexpectedly meet in London.

There is bad blood between the Snowdon and Langley families that may ruin their HEA.  Will Fanny and David get their HEA?

I just loved the characters in this book.  Fanny and David were great characters and the supporting characters just made this book a wonderful read.

Tiger's Claim by Celia Kyle

One of my favorite genres is shifter novels and Celia Kyle is one of my favorite paranormal romance authors.

This is the second book in the series.  It can stand alone, but it is better to read the first book before you read this one.  Cole is a member of a shifter organization protecting members from anti-shifters.  He goes undercover and encounters Stella who is attempting to revenge her family.  The humor and sexual connection between Cole and Stella is great  It was a fast-paced book.

I enjoyed this novella and the characters.  It was a hot, quick read.

The Good, the Bad, and the Duke by Janna MacGregor

Lady Daphne Hallworth's family is leaving London for their country homes to celebrate the holidays.  When she has been accidentally left home alone, Daphne decides to use the time to focus on her dream of opening a home for unwed mothers.   Daphne discovers that her brothers former best friend, Paul Barslowe, Duke of Southart, is also bidding on the property.  On a trip to her solicitor, her reticule is stolen.  It contained her personal diary, which holds secrets that could devastate her family.  Daphne has to turn to Paul for help.

Paul Barslowe never thought he would be the Duke of Southart since he was a second son.  He inherited after his brother's death.  He wants to open a hospital to honor his brother's memory.  Paul discovers that Daphne is bidding on the same property.  When she turns to him to help her find her diary, Paul is reminded that Daphne was the one bright spot in his life.

This book was absolutely delightful.  I could not put it down and stayed up much too late saying "just one more chapter".  I loved Daphne and Paul.  In his youth, Paul did everything to gain his father's attention.  It affected his relationship with his best friends.  This book is about Paul's healing and changing his character.  Daphne was a great heroine  She wasn't the typical London miss.  I liked her spunk and determination.

A Matter of Indiscretion by Jackie Barbosa

Thomas Pearce is a new diplomat.  He is sent to France to rescue Sabine Rousseau who is the newly discovered illegitimate daughter of Britain's premiere.

As Thomas speaks perfect French, thanks to his Grandmother, he poses as a long-lost cousin bringing Sabine her inheritance.  Sabine finds Thomas too attractive to think of as a relative and is released when Thomas tells her why he is in France.

Thanks to Sabine's uncle wanting to use Sabine as a ticket to curry favor with Napoleon, Sabine, and Thomas must make their escape.  As the journey to safety, they pose as amorous newlyweds.  It isn't too difficult of an act because they are wildly attracted to each other.

I loved this well written erotic historical romance.  I liked Sabine.  She was self-sufficient thanks to her beloved step-father providing her with horses to breed.  Because of her business, she was very practical and wasn't the normal virginal heroine.  The romance between Sabine and Thomas was intense.  There was a point in the novel where I wondered how the author was going to give them an HEA.  I did like the ending.

Earl to the Rescue by Jane Ashford

Gwendeline Gregory's parents have just died.  Her parents have neglected her for years.  As they lived the high life in London, they left debt.  The family estate is headed for auction and Gwendeline does not have a place to go or anyone to turn to for help.

Alex St. Audley, Earl of Merryn arrives at the estate of acquaintances of his after the ton is surprised to find out that Roger and Annabella Gregory had a child.  Alex is expecting a young child with a nurse and governess.  He is surprised when he finds a young lady who should have already made her debut.

This book was originally published in 1980.  It reads like an old Harlequin romance.  The plot moved slowly and was predictable.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher.  Thank you.

His Highland Pledge by Celeste Barclay

I normally not into the knight/medieval romance but I enjoyed this book.  It is about lovers that are separated by her parents and them finding their love again.  Magnus and Diedre had a handfasting when they were young.  When her parents found out, the immediately separated them and made Diedre become a lady-in-waiting to the king.

There is plenty of court drama and a villain that wants Diedre no matter how many times she tells him no.  The one thing I did not like about this book was Diedre's parents and what they did to her.

I received this ARC from Book Sprout in exchange for an honest review.

The Lady Travelers Guide to Deception with an Unlikely Earl by Victoria Alexander

I liked this novel.  It was a light hearted romance.  It light-hearted banter, little old ladies that were medelsome matchmakers and a heroine that was stepping outside of her comfort zone.  I liked the quick pace of the book.

The Earl in My Bed by Stacy Reid

Daphne Wentworth met Sylvester Wentworth, Earl of Carrington when she was almost seventeen.  Her father wanted her to have a powerful match so he blackmailed Sylvester into marrying Daphne.  Six years later, Daphne is still in love with the husband that has neglected her.  Daphne can not live in a marriage without love from her husband and plots to create a scandal so her husband will divorce her.

This was a great book.  I liked Daphne and felt bad that she was in a marriage that her father wrecked before it started.  Sylvester was aloof and often left Daphne alone until he decided he needed an heir.  He became more and more entranced with Daphne as he was determined to seduce her.  This was a great book with a wonderful ending.

I liked Christopher and how he was in the shadow of his brother's relationship.  When his brother gets engaged, Christopher becomes the focus of the women of the village.   Christopher asks his brother's fiancee if there is a matchmaker in the village.  She points him in the direction of Gloria Godwin.  Christopher had met Gloria during the second lap of her sky tour and gets frustrated with her.  As Gloria attempts to match Christopher, he slowly realizes that Gloria is the one he wants.  Christopher wants a bride that will travel with him.  Due to events in her past, Gloria is afraid of travel.  Can Gloria overcome her past to embrace love with Christopher?

Kiss of a Duke by Erica Ridley

This is the second book in the 12 Dukes of Christmas series.  It is woven around a village that is now known as Christmas.  Once you ignore that this is a historical romance, the story is sweet.  The heroine is a chemist that creates a best selling man's cologne that even Prinney wears.  The hero is a rake that is determined to take the cologne off the market to even the playing field.

I liked the characters.  Penelope was a smart, determined, older heroine that didn't care that she was on the shelf.  Nicholas was a rake with a secret.  He was a glass blower.  It was cute that he had a hobby that he had to hide away in London, but in Christmas, he is accepted.  This book is about people with different backgrounds and interests accepting each other and finding love.

The Duke of Seduction by Darcy Burke

Lady Lavinia Gillingham prefers science to matrimony.  Until she stumbles upon William Beckett, Marquess of Northam, in a library at a ball   Beck is meeting a lover when he mistakes her for Lavinia and kisses her neck.  He is determined to make up for his gaffe by helping Lavinia on the marriage mart.

I really enjoyed this book.  Lavinia was a great heroine.  I liked how she was fine with not being successful on the Marriage Mart and happy with her small group of friends.  Beck was a tortured hero.  He felt guilty over his sister's death and was determined to discover what really happened.  The story was witty and fast-paced from the beginning to the end.

Pleasure's Fury (Masters' Admiralty #3) by Mari Carr and Lila Dubois

With each twist and turn, this series keeps getting better and better!  I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see if Antonio would rescue Leila and Karl in time.   By the end of the book, I was blown away.  I loved the bond that developed between Antonio, Leila, and Karl.  There were so many emotions.  The book opened with searching for the Domino and ended with the group discovering an older enemy.  This was an amazing book and I can't wait for the next one!

My One and Only Duke by Grace Burrowes

Quinn Wentworth has been framed for murder and is facing execution.  He met Jane Winston, the daughter of a prison preacher while waiting for her father to finish proselytizing to the inmates.  When Jane confides in Quinn that she is pregnant, he marries her as a way to protect her and provide a future for her child.  At the last minute, Quinn is saved when he is declared the long-lost heir to a dukedom.

Quinn is out for vengeance.  Will the minister's daughter prove to be his salvation?

This was such a well-written book.  I liked how Quinn isn't the typical duke.  He was a former gutter-rat that made it good.  I liked how calm and steadfast Jane is.  She was a great character.

This isn't the typical historical romance!

First Earl I See Tonight by Anna Bennett

Lieutenant by Lesli Richardson

This book picks up where Governor left off, told from Susa's point of view.  We learn more about Carter's history and how their relationship formed.

At some points, the book switches POV but that was because of the plot.  Susa was a strong woman and this book proved it.  I was sucked in from the beginning of the book until the end.

Governor by Lesli Richardson

I normally do not read books with political settings.  Since I have read numerous books written by the author under her pen name, I decided to take a chance on this series.

While the series is about Owen, Susa, and Carter, this book focuses on Owen and is written from his POV.  The book was an emotional rollercoaster.  Owen had suffered emotional abuse at the hands of his psycho mother.  He did not start healing until he met Carter his second year in college.  The relationship between Owen, Susa, and Carter was amazing.  The only thing that was missing was Owen's mother getting what she deserved.

The Butterfly: A Villain Duology Sequel by Victoria Vale

While we caught a glimpse of Olivia and Niall in The Villian Duology, this is their book!  We knew about Olivia because she was the reason for Adam's revenge.  The Butterfly is about healing and recovery.  To get to that point, we learn about Olivia and Niall's history from their childhood, adolescence, and Olivia preparing for her London Debut.  And for Olivia to recover, we learn what happened to her in London.

I loved Niall and how he cherished Olivia.  I loved finding out about their history.  Olivia was an amazing heroine who overcame so much.

Victoria Vale did it again.

Loyalty’s Betrayal by Mari Carr and Lila Dubois

I am a huge fan of the Trinity Masters series.  I love how it didn’t end, but was spun off into the Masters’ Admiralty.  This book met all of my expectations and then some.

Mateo, Cecelia, and Dimitri are paired in a Trinity to solve a murder.  That is just on the surface.  As the story developers, the plot twists and turns.

Mari Carr and Lila Dubois are wicked geniuses.  This book was amazing.

Once Upon a Duke by Erica Ridley

Benjamin Ward, the Duke of Silkridge is in a village he thought he would never return to for the reading of his maternal grandfather's will.  His one goal is to get back the portrait locket containing the last picture painted of his mother.

His grandfather had transformed the village of Cressmouth into Christmas creating a thriving village for the residence.  One of the residence, Noelle Pratchett, once fell in love with Benjamin.  When he returns, Noelle knows she must protect her heart because a duke will not marry an orphan.  Due to a request in his grandfather's will, Benjamin must stay in Christmas longer than he wanted to and as Noelle assists him in his quest, he slowly realizes that she is the one woman he loves.  Can Benjamin win Noelle's trust and heart back with Christmas magic?

I enjoyed reading this book.  I liked the characters and their banter.  The book was romantic and yet at the same time, there was a lot of humor.  I felt bad for Benjamin and his relationship with his grandfather.  Noelle was his perfect heroine.  She helped Benjamin achieve the peace he was seeking.

Show Off by Ember Cole

There is a line between erotica and something that belongs in the Penthouse Forum.  I was not a fan of this book.  The book was too short for character development.

In the Mood Fur Love by Eve Langlais; Milly Taiden; Kate Baxter

I enjoyed the first two novellas in this anthology.  Eve Langlais and Milly Taiden are two of my favorite shifter authors. This was a great anthology.

In Bearing His Touch by Eve Langlais, Becka meets Stavros who is a bear shifter.  There is humor while they are trying to avoid a stalker that has held Becka captive.

Milly Taiden gives the man behind "Mates Fur Hire" his own HEA in Fake Mated to the Wolf. I liked the hero and heroine.  Shawna led Hawke on a merry chase to their own HEA.

The Wich, The Werewolf and The Waitress by Kate Baxter was darker and after reading the first two books, I struggled to get into the book

As secrets and half-truths threaten their blossoming attraction, can Christina and Dakaric discover they want a real engagement with an everlasting love?

A Gentleman Never Keeps Score by Cat Sebastian

This is a genre that I have never read before.  I had read Unmasked by the Marquess and liked it, so I decided to take a chance.

I liked Sam and Hartley.  The secondary characters added to the story.  Behind the romance of Sam and Hartley, there was a powerful backstory.  Hartley has suffered trauma at the hands of his godfather because Hartley wanted a better life for his siblings.  Sam helped Hartley heal from the trauma.

I will be reading more of Cat Sebastian's books.

May Flowers by Mari Carr

May Flowers was hired to replace Lochlan Wallace's longtime personal assistant.  She is the last thing he wants in a new assistant.  May was young, gorgeous and submissive. Since his retiring PA hired and trained May while Lochlan was on a business trip, he decides that he needs to give her a chance.  The more he works with May, the more he can't fight his basic instincts.

When May has trouble at home, Lochlan steps in to help and it brings out his dominate nature.  May knows that she shouldn't be attracted to her boss, but he is making her want things she didn't know she needed.  Lochlan is wrestling with his own emotions, but in the end will he claim May as his?

The Wild Irish and Wilder Irish series is one of my favorite series.  This book is a perfect addition.  I liked how it includes family which is an important dynamic in the Collins family.  The characters were wonderful.  I liked May and Lochlan.

Princess Salari has lived for ten years in Paris after her father, the king of Kattahar exiled her.  After his sudden death, her brother contacts her and asks her to come home.  She is met at the airport by Kalif Nazat, the man who destroyed her life.  He was once her childhood friend and love.  When there are several attacks on her life, Kalif as Captin of the Guard will do anything to protect the woman he still loves.  As they rekindle their romance, Kalif must explain to Salari what happened ten years ago and hope she can forgive him.

This was a great second chance romance.  I loved the characters.  The plot twist kept me guessing what would come next.  Another great book from Leslie North.

Once a Scoundrel by Mary Jo Putney

Gabriel Vance left the Royal Navy in disgrace and was disowned by his Grandfather, a British admiral.  He re-invented himself as Gabriel Hawkins and captained his own merchant ship.

Lady Aurora Lawrence is the youngest of eight and a wild child.  She is using an inheritance to travel.  When she is captured by pirates, she demands that the ransom include herself, her cousin/companion and the crew of the ship they were on.  Her father can't raise a 50,000-pound ransom, so her mother steps in and hires Gabriel.

This was a sweeping romance that was a fast-paced read.  I enjoyed that the book does not take place in the drawing rooms of London.  It was a breath of fresh air.  I liked that Rory was an adventuress and had helped a cousin that was wronged by their grandmother.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher.  Thank you!

Her Stepbrothers Are Cowboys by Trinity Blacio

This one ended up on the virtual DNF stack.

There was just so much thrown at the reader within the first chapter that I was overwhelmed.  Haven and her mom Paris are vampires.  Two years ago, Haven's dad was killed and they have been on the run to include Haven having to cut and dye her hair.  Paris found a new mate who happens to be horse shifters that originated on another planet.  Then a third mate who is also from another planet is thrown in.  I get the instantaneous connection when Haven and Landon and Stang.  It is a common thread in shifter novels.  What was annoying was how they constantly called Haven "Little Filley".

I am normally all for campy and an escapist read, but what put the nail in the coffin was the need for proofreading and basic editing.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley.  Thank you.

The Sadist and the Stolen Princess by Jenn LeBlanc

I have been waiting for his book for a long time and I was not disappointed.

Madoc is forced to return to London and take up his title by the Queen.  The Queen demands that he make amends with his family.  Out of stress, he visits a birch mistress.  Madoc finds a woman and attempts to help her.

Willow was researching a clue she had found about a birch mistress in the Victorian Underground in 2018 when she is taken through time to the very spot she was researching.  She realizes that Madoc is the man that she has been looking for - her other half.

While there are a few historical inaccuracies that I spotted, I can ignore them because it is a time travel romance and you have to suspend reality.  I loved Madoc.  He was a tortured hero.  Madoc was perfect for Willow.  I loved the relationship between them.  This was a great book that I enjoyed from beginning to end!

Falling from His Grace by Kristin Vayden

Lilah Durary is devastated.  Her father, the Duke of Chatterwood has determined that she marry her best friend despite the fact that he is in love with her friend.  She does not want an empty life, so she does the only thing she can do, attempt to ruin her reputation.

I did not like this book.  I could not connect with the characters.

The Marquess and the Maiden by Robyn DeHart

Lady Harriet Wheatley is a member of the Ladies of Virtue.  Their latest quest is to rehabilitate the gentlemen of the ton based on the seven deadly sins.  Harriet's target is Oliver Weeks, Marquess of Davenport.

Harriet longs to take Oliver down a notch after he cruelly rejected her offer to marry him when he was in desperate need of an infusion of money to his bankrupt estates. Harriet believes that Oliver is spending recklessly and is determined to change him.

Oliver's mother wants him to find a bride before she can find her own happiness.  When Oliver sees Harriet again after being away from society for six years, he still desires her.  Harriet wants to help him find a wife so he will stop his reckless spending, but she doesn't realize that the only woman he wants is her.

I was sucked into the book at the prologue.  The characters were people that I ended up caring about.  I felt so bad for Harriet when her mother and Oliver's decide that they should marry and Harriet approaches Oliver only to have him reject her.  As the story progresses, I understood why Oliver didn't want to marry her at that point.  Oliver was determined to rebuild his family fortune on his own, now with a wife's dowry.

I loved the plot of "the Big Misunderstanding".  Oliver needed someone like Harriet to help him heal.

Drawn to the Marquess by Bronwen Evans

As the daughter of a Duke, Lady Penelope was once considered the belle of the ton.  That was until she married a scoundrel who she thought she loved, only to have her dreams crushed by a cruel husband.  When he dies, her brother-in-law will do anything to get her convicted of killing her husband so he can have her fortune and estate.

Stephen Hornsby, the Marquess of Clevedon is the one man that Penelope knows can prove her innocence.  Before he goes blind, Stephen is indulging in his greatest joy, watching a woman in the throes of passion.  He meets Penelope and is determined to have her.  Penelope has spurned Stephen based on his reputation as a rogue, but when she gets to know the man he is behind the reputation, can she continue to resist her.

This was simply an amazing book.  Both Penelope and Stephen were strong characters.  I like a flawed hero and Stephen was the perfect flawed hero with his degenerating eyesight.  Penelope was a strong heroine that had been through a lot in her marriage to a man that crushed her dreams.

This was a great conclusion to the series.  I have been waiting for Loki to get his HEA and this was perfect for him.  There is nothing like a Leslie North book.

OMG!  What a book!  I have loved the books in the Victorian Rebels series so I was thrilled when I saw this on NetGalley.  I was hooked at the first chapter.  I hated Mortimer and was thrilled when he got his deserved ending.  I felt so bad for Veronica.  I was holding my breath at the twists and turns in the novel.

Lord of Vice by Erica Ridley

Maxwell Gideon has risen from poverty to run The Cloven Hoof, a gaming hell that he controls who can have a membership.  He has a silent partner that he wants to buy out but refuses to meet with him.

Byrony Grenville is the youngest daughter of a Baron.  Her mother's goal is for Byrony to be married by the end of the season.  Byrony a secret.  She has used her skills to invest in the ton's most infamous gambling parlor.  When Gideon wants to buy her out, she makes a secret visit to The Cloven Hoof to see if her investment is sound.  An unexpected meeting leads to temptation.  Can two people from opposite sides of society find true love?

I did not want to put this book down once I started reading.  I loved the characters.  Byrony was a smart heroine that met her match in Max.  I liked how Byrony didn't care about Max's background but fell in love with the strong man that is Max.  I hope Max's sister gets her own HEA.

Three-Way Split by Elia Winters

This is my first book by this author and I didn't know what to expect.  It was a friends-to-lovers for all of the characters.  I enjoyed the dialogue between all of the characters and the building of their romance. It was a steamy romance that I enjoyed.

Sleepless in Scotland by May McGoldrick

I enjoyed reading the next book in the Pennington family saga.  The characters were great and the plot was riveting.  I liked that Phoebe wanted to make a difference and isn't afraid to do something.  Ian was a tortured hero that needed saving and Phoebe was just the person to do it!

Brave New Earl by Jane Ashford

When Benjamin Romilly, Earl of Furness, wife died in childbirth five years ago, he gave up.  He has been an emotional wreck and distant father to his son.  His son has been allowed to run wild.

Miss Jean Saunders was a cousin by marriage to Benjamin's wife.  Jean and the late Countess were good friends and she can't believe the rumors that the Earl is neglecting his young son.

Jean pays an impromptu visit to the Earl's house with the initial goal to take the boy to his maternal grandparents.  After Jean arrives, she slowly changes the Earl and his son.  And fixes the Earl's broken heart.

I will admit that there was a point that I almost gave up on this book.  Who was Jean to come and take a man's child away based on some rumors?  I persisted and was so glad.  This was a good book.  There was so much dept to both Benjamin and Jean's characters.  I really enjoyed this book.

A Snowbound Scandal by Jessica Lemmon

Miriam Andrix met Chase Ferguson when he was visiting in her hometown in Montana.  They parted when Chase realized that he needed to protect her from his public life.  Ten years later, Chase is still in the public life.  He has bought the mansion on the lake where they spent time during the summer.  During a snowstorm, Miriam and Chase reunite.

This book fell flat for me.  The characters had no dimension.  Chase controlled their relationship by sending Miriam back to Montana.

More Or Less a Countess by Anna Bradley

Violet Somerset agreed to have one London Season to please her grandmother.  After a disastrous season, she is reconciled to being a spinster.  After a party, the notorious rogue, Nicholas Balfour, the Earl of Dare, requests an introduction to her younger sister, Hyacinth.  Hyacinth is absolutely wrong for a rogue like the Earl of Dare.  She is timid and gentle.

Nicholas Balfour has promised his aunt that he will wed.  However, his plans are to find the meekest bride he can and once she is carrying his heir, to return to Italy and his mistress.  Hyacinth Somerset is the perfect lady.

When Nicholas didn't get the introduction to Hyacinth, he pays a call on Miss Somerset, not knowing she has an older sister and meets Violet.  Nicholas discovers that his perfect bride had the tongue of a viper and the heart of a bluestocking.

When Violet's ruse unravels, the tables are turned and they are forced to marry.  Violet has discovered that she wants her husband's heart, but can she battle his inner demons to win?

What an amazing book!  I loved the characters.  There was so much depth to Nicholas's character.  Violet was a bluestocking that was writing an illustrated book.  She takes advantage of Nicholas by conning him into taking her to several places that aren't appropriate for a young lady.  I loved the anticipation of the moment when Nicholas would realize he had the right woman for him.  Unfortunately, after the wedding, there are still more hurdles for them to get over.  I loved this book from beginning to end!

From a Lady to a Maid by Cassie O'Brien

I requested this title from NetGalley because I was intrigued by the synopsis and it is listed as erotica.  One of my favorite genres is historical erotica.

I was confused when I started reading the book.  The synopsis says that Lady Henrietta escapes from her evil stepfather and finds employment as Amelia Brown as a laundry maid in the home of Damion, Marquis of Ashton.  I expected the book would open by establishing the backstory.  Nope.  It just jumped into an odd scene where the housekeeper figures out that Amelia's dress is too small.

Because I thought the book was so well written, I kept reading and waiting for something to happen.  I felt like I was in the Victorian version of "Upstairs Downstairs".  There was just so much detail from Amelia's daily life as a laundress that was not needed.  It wasn't until Chapter 5 or 43% into the book that Amelia tells Damion how they know each other and explains what happened to her family money.

I loved Amelia. She was such a strong, powerful character.  I felt bad that Damion was stuck in a marriage that he didn't want. I just wish that there had been less of the daily life of a laundress and more of Amelia's life after her arrangement with Damion.

I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars because it was so well written.

Undercover with the SEAL by Leslie North

Hunter Odenson has always been a big guy since grade school and people seem to forget that he is smart too. He wants to earn the team leader position at Norse Security, an agency made up of ex-SEALS.  His latest mission is to be the pretend bodyguard of Hollywood actress, Alexandra Valentine while searching for her missing friend.

Alexandra has made her living in Hollywood living up to the stereotype of ditzy blond.  She needs to go undercover into a sex slave ring to save her friend.  Alex hires Hunter to help find her friend. When they have to infiltrate a sex club to search for clues, it lights a fire to their own attraction.

As Hunter sees his friend Cam settling down with Everly, he wants the same thing and realizes that Alex is his perfect match.

This was a gripping, fast-paced romantic suspense novel.  The book was non-stop action from beginning to HEA.  Loved the hero.

Ride with the SEAL by Leslie North

Camden Thursday and Everly Knight are both after the same thing - a hot car wanted by both the government and the mob. Everly needs the car to finance her dream of having a legal garage without the mob influence of her father.  Cam is working for Norse Security and wants to prove that he can do more than just manipulate computer code.   Cam now has to work with his high school crush to make sure the car gets into the right hands and they stay alive.

It took a little bit to get into the action.  Too much time wasted on backstory and yadda yadda.  When the action picked up, it zoomed!  Everly was the bad girl that didn't want to be a bad girl. Great characters and a great start to a new series.

I loved the characters in the book.  Penelope was an amazing heroine and mom.  I was a little dismayed by Harry when he was attempting to set up Penelope as his mistress.  Until he corrected himself, I wanted another hero to ride in and save Penelope and Harriet.

When Poppy discovers her husband's secret, Archer fears that the marriage is over.  What he doesn't anticipate is Poppy's acceptance of his secret.

Fair warning - this is historical BDSM erotica where the male is the submissive.

I picked up this book from NetGalley because I was intrigued by the description.  I have read some historical erotica, but never like this!  I loved the book.  It seemed to move slowly at the beginning where the Poppy and Archer are trying to figure each other out, but then, the book just flew by.

The book was so well written.  I enjoyed the character development of Poppy and Archer.  I loved how they became friends before Archer realized he loved Poppy.  This was an amazing book and I can't wait for the next in the series.

The Risk of Rogues by Sabrina Jeffries

This is a delightful second-chance-at-romance novella.  Hartley Corry and Anne fell in love years ago, but their parents forbid the match.  Hartley buys a commission and leaves for India while Anne's father inherits a title from a distant relative.  When Hartley visits his brother's house for a party he is shocked to see the one woman he still loves at the party.  He will do anything to regain her trust and love.

I enjoyed the novella and how Hartley worked to crack the shell that Anne built around herself.  This was a great read.

The Sheikh's Pregnant Fake Wife by Leslie North

After reading the first two books in this series, I was waiting for this one.  How was Feraz going to get a HEA when he was estranged from his wife Roxanne.  OMG! Loved this book and the twist.  I felt so bad for Feraz in his brother's books.  This was a great book.  Once I started reading, I didn't put it down.  It was a great end to the series!

The Sheikh's Island Fling by Leslie North

There is nothing like a Leslie North Sheikh novel.  I loved the characters in this book.  Rehaj was a tortured hero after he lost his school sweetheart as a teenager.  Ani's fiancee dumped her for another woman.  They click and their island retreat becomes a passionate escape.  I liked how Rehaj and Ani complete and compliment each other.  This was a passionate romance!

Malik al-Hakim is the crown prince of Bashir.  When he meets Catherine, he finds a woman who sees him as a man, not as his future as a king. Malik pursues Catherine but when she is placed in danger, he realizes that he loves her.  Malik will do anything to keep her safe so he does not lose the woman he loves.

I liked this book and the characters.  Malik was a great hero and Catherine was his perfect companion.  I liked how his family treated Catherine as part of the family, not as an outsider.  The ending was great.

Arden by Melody Anne

Arden Forbes is a dedicated High School history teacher and football coach.  Few people know that he is a billionaire thanks to his families wealth.

Keera Thompson is running from her troubled past.  Finding a job as a High School principal in this small, sleepy town is just the thing she needs for a new start.  When her past finds her, Arden steps in and protects her every time there is a problem.

Keera does not want to share her past with Arden because it will bring back the memories. As the situation escalates, Keera must tell Arden about her past.  Will it bring them closer together or drive him away.

The first chapter or two moved slowly as the plot was established, but once I got past the second chapter, the story picked up.  I liked the twists and turns in this novel.  Arden was a great hero and poor Keera was such a strong character that had been through a lot. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

This was an amazing debut novel.  I loved the characters.  Grace was a very determined heroine and Everett was just attempting to navigate his way through the mess he inherited.  He was a very strong hero.  I liked that the plot moved at a steady pace with the chemistry between Grace and Everett growing.

Wicked Surrender (Regency Sinners 2) by Carole Mortimer

Eight friends have returned from Waterloo and are now spies for the Crown.  They have been best friends since school and call their group The Sinners after their leader, the Duke of Stonewell, Dominic Sinclair.

As Stonewell is the leader, he has been told that there is a woman in Society that has been passing government secrets to help Napoleon.  However, there were eight women that attended the same six functions when the information was exchanged.  Stonewell has each of the men pick a name of the lady from a hat.  They have to prove the lady's innocence or guilt.

This book revolves around Dante St. Juste, the Duke of Huntley and Lady Isabella Aston.  Isabella's mother married Dante's cousin.  Isabella fell in love with Dante and she was crushed when Dante rejected her affections.  Now, Dante needs to discover if Isabella is the spy they are searching for.

I have been a fan of Carole Mortimer's for a long time.  I love this series.  The characters are great.  The length is perfect.  They have a strong sexual content that works well with the characters and plot.

Breathless by Celeste Bradley and Susan Donovan

A Mistress for Penndrake by Tammy L. Bailey

This was a book that I really wanted to love. But, it just didn't pop.  Before Lord Wesley's father died, he gambled away their ancestral home.  The new owner is now blackmailing Wesley into marrying his cousin.  Lord Wesley is the cousin of the woman that broke Kate Holden's heart.

Throughout the book, Wesley and Kate never directly talk, they are always verbally dancing around, yet they fall into instant lust when Wesley visits Kate's home.  It just didn't work for me.

All Night With the Cowboy by Soraya Lane

This is a second chance romance for high school sweethearts, Tanner and Lauren.  Tanner injured himself on the rodeo circuit bull riding and Lauren is the physical therapist that Tanner's sister hired to help him recover.

I liked the interaction between the characters and the setting.  This was a great summer read.

It's All About the Duke by Amelia Grey

Marlena Fast was orphaned young.  She had a guardian, but because he was unmarried, she lived with various relatives.  Marlena is now living with her cousins.  Her one cousin, Justine, is a widow who is thrilled that the Duke of Rathburne is her new guardian.

When I read the synopsis, I thought that the book sounded good.  I liked Marlena and the Duke.  However, the surrounding characters were too much.  There was Justine who was living in the past and thought that the Duke would propose to her as soon as he remembered their dance during her season.  There were several times I wondered who was the main character because Justine overshadowed and overpowered Marlena.

Marlena was writing a gossip column and using the money to help a friend and her married sister that lived down the street.  The husband was spending all of their money on fossils and was now spending the unmarried sister's money for her season.  The epilogue was a wrap up of what happens with the fossil guy.

While I did finish the book, I found it hard to complete.

Two Dukes and a Lady by Lorna James

This book could have been so much more if it had been just a little bit longer.  There were several sub-plots that were started and hurridly resolved.  Lily's dead husband was a crook and scammed other crooks.  She discovered that after he died.  As soon as she was able, she fled back to London from America.  Her dead husband's creditors keep sending her letters and Lily keeps putting them in a pile, hoping they will go away.   When the crooks shows up at her door and says he has her husband's son and demands fifty thousand pounds or he will go the papers, the boy just shows up several days later.  Lily doesn't have the money, but poof, situation resolved.  Did  Lily pay him?

That both the Dukes never told her that the one chick was her frenemy?  Come on Dukes!  Clue your girl in earlier.  When the frenemy suggests that the Dukes will not want Lily because of the boy and helps her run off to Paris, the Dukes find her.  Again, poof, the whole situation with the little boy resolved.

Wold Tales Series By Kate Douglas

Just a word to the average reader, be prepared to step into a different shifter world.  And, this series is so hot it should make an e-reader melt!  I don't even know what abbreviations to use for the relationships in this series.

The Chanku are a lost race of shapeshifters.  Slowly, the core group of Chanku is discovering other Chanku and helping them make the change to being a shapeshifter.  While the book will center around a character, the rest of the pack are important in the story development.

A Duke Like No Other by Valerie Bowman

General Mark Grimaldi is almost at his career goal - promotion to Home Secretary but with one condition:  Mark needs a wife.  No problem!  Mark has a wife stashed away in France.  For TEN YEARS.  Now, Mark must go to France and convince his wife Nicole to return to London and play the part of his beloved wife.  OMG.

The plot intrigued me.  Battle-hardened General with a career goal needs his estranged wife.  But, then other things got in the way of the reconciliation and overshadowed it.  There was the murder of Mark's cousin that mark and Nicole were investigating shortly after their arrival in London.  The murder throws Mark into a tail-spin.  He is now the heir to his dying Uncle's dukedom.  And Mark doesn't want to let anybody know about his mother's side of the family because of how they treated her after she married a poor Italian immigrant shoemaker.  The flashbacks were annoying.  Mark and Nicole's stubbornness was annoying.  And Corporal to Major General to Home Secretary in ten years?  Someone had to know Mark was the nephew of a duke.  The whole "codicil that allowed for the duchy to be passed down via a female heir if and only if a male heir existed on that side" felt like it was thrown in after realizing that Mark was related to the Duke via his mother.

The Luck of the Bride by Janna MacGregor

Since March Lawson's parents died eight years ago, she has struggled to raise her siblings on a meager allowance.  Their previous guardian neglected the family to the point of almost starvation.  They have a new guardian, the Marquess of McAlpin, and he has not responded to her requests for more funds.

March has had to take matters into her own hands and remove money from her own trust by forging the Marquess's name.  When McCalpin finds about the bold embezzling, he confronts March and finds out about the family's situation.

McCalpin insists on bringing the family to London and giving March's sisters the Season March missed.  Slowly, McCalpin falls for March.  When additional monies are embezzled, the culprit makes it look like it was March that did it.  Can McCalpin trust his fiancee or will March go to America to make a fresh start?

This book was quite the emotional roller coaster.  How March and her siblings survived with the neglect of their guardians was amazing.  March was a strong young woman to support her family.  McCalpin is sort of a tortured hero because of his disability with numbers.  He is so ashamed that he does not want to fully trust March.  The characters in this book, from March and McCalpin to their families were great.   This was a book with a great supporting cast.

Royal Order by Leslie North

Simon Stuart is the serious cousin.  He has been feeling lost since his cousins King Philip and Prince Eric found love.  Lately, they have been asking him to represent the Crown at official functions.  At one of the functions, he was offered the opportunity to marry the new Queen of a neighboring country.

Penelope Alcott was happier running her toy store.  She is only Queen due to a series of unfortunate events and a bizarre abdication of the last King to "find himself".  Penelope knows she needs help and Simon is the one to take the job.

Simon helps Penelopy find her style as Queen.  They are making an amazing team, publicly and more so privately.  When the former King's ex-girlfriend comes forward with her young son claiming the boy's right to the throne, Simon and Penelope have to face losing the life they were just beginning to love.

This is the last book in The Royals of Danover Series.  I loved how Simon changed from stiff and serious to a true spouse for Penelope.  He was a smoking hot "Clark Kent".  This was a fun story.

Lord of Secrets by Erica Ridley

Heath Grenville is the heir to a baronetcy and is part of the London elite.  He is known as the problem-solver among the Ton.  His mother is pressuring his sisters to find husbands, so Heath tells his mother he is looking for a wife to take pressure off of them.

Miss Eleanora Winfield was raised on a sheep farm by her grandparents and as they age, Nora and her brother have been running the farm.  Her cousin is in need of a paid companion and summons Nora to London.  At one of the many balls, Nora spills a drink on Heath.    Heath is intrigued by the young woman and disappointed to find out that she is a paid companion.  He is drawn to Nora and starts finding ways to visit her cousin so he can see Nora.

Nora is intrigued by the handsome heir, but she has a deep secret that she can't even divulge to the Ton's secret keeper.  Will it get in the way of their love?

I absolutely loved this book.  I liked how as the story progressed, Nora's character developed.  She started off meek and shy.  By the end of the book, she was confident and in love with Heath.  I also liked how her relationship with her cousin grew into a friendship.  The caricatures were a brilliant sub-plot.  I liked how Nora used a caricature to subtly get back at a dandy who made fun of Lady Roundtree.

I received a complimentary ARC from the author and NetGalley  Thank you!

Royal Treatment by Leslie North

Leslie North gives us the Playboy Prince and Research Nerd in this Royal Romance.  I liked Prince Eric and how he was attempting to shed his playboy image.  He treated Anna like she was a woman, not a geek.  The book is a quick read and is very steamy toward the end of the book.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you!

Dark Captive by Kate Douglas

I have read another one of Kate Douglas's series and loved it, so when I saw Dark Captive, I took a chance.  I was hooked by the end of the first chapter.  At the end of the second chapter, I was on Kate's webpage looking for other books in this series.

What I liked is the book revolves around Asha and Leo, but characters from previous books are the supporting cast.  It takes a good author to pull off this type of plotting and Kate Douglas does an amazing job.

Asha is a shifter that was born as a snow leopard.  She was taken from her mother when she was a tiny cub and traded in an illegal trafficking ring.  Once the Chanku Alpha receives word of her existence, Leo is sent to help her shift and assess her trauma.  Once Leo meets Asha, their chemistry is off the charts.

While this is part of a large series, it reads well as a stand-alone.  Now that I have read this book, I am going back and reading the others in the series!

Light as Air (Compass Boys #4) by Mari Carr and Jayne Rylon

Doug and JT have been best friends since childhood.  While Doug has been working as a camera man/producer on a storm chasing crew, JT has been at home caring for his abusive, alcoholic father.  Doug has been in love with Rosalie for years, but she has kept him in the friend zone.  When the storm crew needs another camera man, Doug convinces JT to leave home and work on the crew.  Rosalie has had a cancer scare and now wants to live.  She regrets pushing Doug away.  When Doug returns with JT, she has two handsome cowboys she wants.

The chemistry in this book was amazing.  I loved the connection between Doug, Rosalie, and JT.  The book was so smoking hot.  I read it in one sitting and wished it was longer.  This was an amazing end to the series.

Royal Service by Leslie North

This light hearted romance is a wonderful twist on the classic Cinderella story.  King Philip of Danovia has to marry by his thirtieth birthday or the crown goes to his younger brother.  He is having problems choosing his bride, so his mother invites all of the eligible maidens to The Summer House Party.

Ella Fernstone has retreated to the role of servant/personal assistant since her father's death.  Her stepmother is forgetful in her determination to make sure one of her daughters marry the king.  Ella wants to escape and be able to pursue her own dream.  Her goal is to have one of her stepsisters marry King Philip.

I enjoyed reading Philip and Ella's story.  It was a smoking hot read!  The characters were fun.  I liked the Cinderella twist without the stepmother being evil.  Ella's stepsisters were sweet.  I can't wait for the rest of this series!

Claiming the Cowboy by Leslie North

Claiming the Cowboy is the last book in the Meier Ranch Series.  The story is a heartwarming romance between two people who are direct opposites, yet, are perfect for each other.  I loved the connection between Chase and Gretchen.

Hot and Badgered by Shelly Laurenston

I so wanted to love this book.  I liked the humor.  BUT, I thought that there were too many characters vying for attention.  At points, I wasn't sure who the main characters were.  It also felt like I was dropped in the middle of a story that has been going on for a while.  The book went on and on.  It needed to be much shorter.

What a Difference a Duke Makes

Edgar Rochester, Duke of Banksford, pulled his family from near bankruptcy after his father's death to his position as one of the wealthiest men in England.  When his former mistress dies and the twins he didn't know about are sent to him, he needs help.  The twins have terrorized half the governesses in London until Miss Mari Perkins arrives on his doorstep.

Mari Perkins is an orphan who was hoping for a position as a nursemaid in a tradesman's house.  She arrived late for the interview and now she has no position.  Her trunk was stolen and she is left in London alone and without anything.  She hears the last governess of the Duke of Banksford describing the children and knows that this is her one chance.

As Mari tames the children, can she tame the Duke and find her HEA?

I picked up this book and did not put it down until I was done.  It was an afternoon of binge reading. I loved the characters from Mari and Edgar to the twins.  I can't wait to see what happens with Edgar's sister.

The Big Alpha in Town by Eve Langlais; Milly Taiden; Kate Baxter

Bearing His Name by Eve Langlais - 4.5
When Ark meets his mate things aren't going to be easy.  Jade has sent letters to all of the guys that could be the father of her sister's baby.  Now, one of the potential baby-daddies is at her house telling her she is his mate.

I always love Eve Langlais's books.  There is always humor in the books that make them enjoyable reads.

Owned by the Lion by Kate Baxter - 4.5
Keir has met his mate except he used to be a player and some of his old women are making things uncomfortable for his mate, Ally.  Ally is going to take a lot of convincing to believe that she is Keir's mate.

I liked the plot and the characters.

No Need Fur Love by Kate Baxter
Well, two out of three isn't bad.  I just didn't like the wood nymph trope.

Redeeming the Rancher by Leslie North

At the end of his last military tour, Wes Meier returns home to his family's Texas ranch.  He is attempting to retreat from his memories of the war and the friends he lost.  When he meets artist Livie Blake, she brings out the emotions that he is attempting to escape.

Livie Blake is in Close Call to sculpt a memorial to local veterans.  She is looking for a model for her hero and Wes is a perfect choice.  Wes does not want to be immortalized as a hero, especially since it means he would have to spend more time with Livie.  One of the reasons Livie is in Close Call is because she is attempting to connect with her brother who died in the war.  Wes was one of her brother's best friends.

Can Wes and Livie open their hearts to love?

This book was amazing.  The plot was a lot more intense than some of Leslie North's other books due to the subject.  Livie and Wes were amazing characters.  I loved their connection.  This was a book that I didn't want to put down once I started reading.

Scandal in Spades by Wendy LaCapra

Giles Langley, the Marquess of Bromton has learned that he is a bastard.  As he is an honorable man, he attempts to bestow his estate upon the rightful heir by manipulating a high-stakes card game.  When the winner says that he doesn't want the estate, but he wants Bromton to marry his older sister, Bromton agrees.

Lady Katherine has lived the life of a recluse and spinster since Brummell declared she was the least marriageable lady in all of England.  Her brother brings home his friend, the Marquess of Bromton.  Katherine knows her brother is attempting a match.  After attempting to foil the attempt, Bromton slowly wins over Katherine.  Katherine agrees to marry Bromton.  When he is forced to acknowledge his past, he could destroy his own future.

What a great read!  I loved the characters and the plot.  The connection between Katherine and Bromton was great.  They were perfect for each other.  I liked how she helped him find himself again.  The secondary characters added to the plot.

It Happened in the Highlands by May McGoldrick

Lady Josephine Pennington met and fell in love with Captain Wynne Melford.  When rumors of her questionable origins are being spread, she is jilted.

For sixteen years, Josephine has molded herself into the perfect paragon.  Jo receives a package of sketches that look eerily like her with an invitation to meet the person that drew them.  Jo changes her travel plans because this may be a clue to the identity of her birth mother.

Captain Wynne Melfort ended his engagement to Jo Pennington because he knew he could not protect her from his family while he was at sea.  After he broke the engagement, he thought he would never see Jo again until he sees the drawings of one of the patients at the clinic he supports.

While Wynne and Jo attempt to unravel the mystery of her birth, they begin their romance again.  Jo must learn how to trust Wynne and Wynne needs to forgive himself.  Will they be able to solve the mystery of her birth and rediscover their love?

This was a great second chance at love romance.  The only thing I wish was there was not such a large gap in Jo and Wynne reuniting.  I loved the characters from Jo and Wynne to the wonderful supporting characters.  This was such a well-written and enjoyable book.

The Perfect Duchess by Erica Taylor

Andrew Macalister, the Duke of Bradstone, hates his family's annual birthday ball.  Except for this year, he sees one woman he thought he would never see again, Lady Clara Masson.  Several years ago, Andrew was engaged to Clara's twin sister only to have her leave him at the altar for a footman.

Now Andrew is openly courting social pariah Clara.  When her brother assaults her, Andrew steps up and announces they are engaged.

This was a book I so wanted to like.  I loved the opening but when the author kept cramming trope after trope into the book, I didn't like it.  You have the brother hating the sister, hidden child, the mystery of girl running off with the footman.  Just too much to make the book work in my opinion.

Small Town Siren by Lexi Blake

I was so thrilled when I found out that Lexi Blake was re-editing and re-issuing the Texas Sirens Series.

Small Town Siren is one of my favorite books.  The additions to this book made it even better.

Joanna's Highlander by Maeve Greyson

After being forced out of her job as a successful pharmaceutical sales rep by a lying and abusive ex, Joanna is trying to start a new career with a tour company.  Joanna and her foster sister Lucia need an exclusive contract with a North Carolina theme park, Highland Life and Legends.  Since they got a temporary contract, Joanna has put Grant MacDara in the "look but don't touch" category.  Until she had the matchmaking tour group of grannies.

Grant MacDara is a medieval highlander thrust into the twenty-first century.  The woman he loved and his unborn child were taken from him.  He was haunted by his lost love until he met Joanna.  She is the most irresistible woman Grant has met and when he decides that he is ready to risk his heart again, he doesn't want to let her go.

When Joanna gets an offer she can't refuse from her old company will she risk Grant's love and break his heart?

Once I got to the first chapter, I was hooked.  I loved the time-travel plot with the hot highlander.  The characters were great.  I loved Grant.  I was really enjoying the book until Chapter 20 when Joanna's ex's wife visits with a job offer and a way too crazy story about what happened to the ex.  I felt like I had to push through until the book was redeemed with the last chapter and epilogue.

I was also thrown by the layout of the book before chapter 1.  There was a preface which explains the foundation for the series.  Next was the prologue which explains the MacDara's family history.  Then, was an author's note.  I found the placement of the author's note threw the rhythm of the book.  I will admit that I almost DNF'd this book based on the beginning of the book until I started to read chapter 1.  Again, once I hit Chapter 1, I was hooked.

This was a book that I ended up loving.  I can't wait for the next book in the series!

The Secret of Flirting by Sabrina Jeffries

I was hooked from the first chapter to the end.  I loved the characters.  I enjoyed the push and pull between Gregory and Monique.  Monique's devotion to her beloved grandmother was sweet.  I liked how this book is part of a series, yet is a wonderful standalone.  Love it!

Tempting the Rancher, Meier Ranch Brothers Book One by Leslie North

January Rose has always been a free spirit and as a teen, dreamed of traveling the world.  The moment she graduated high school, she left Close Call, Texas and the man she loved.

Rancher Nathaniel Meier has always had to put his responsibilities first.  His father died, his mother took off to "find herself" and his brothers are away.  It is his responsibility to run the families cattle ranch.  He struggles with making a profit every year with the bank breathing down his neck.  This year, he needs all the help he can get when the last person he ever thought he would see again comes back - January Rose.

Ten years later, January has roamed the world, sending postcards from exotic locations.  She has searched for that place to call home.  Will she realize that Nat is her home?  Can Nat take a risk to tame the wandering January?

I was amazed by this book.  I loved the characters, from Nat and January to Mona and Wes when he returned home.  The plot was like a rollercoaster of emotion with the tension between Nat and January so thick you could cut it.  I felt like I was living on the Meier ranch.

The Sheikh's Unexpected Wife by Leslie North

Leslie North is one of my favorite contemporary romance authors.  This book is the perfect ending to this wonderful series.  Her characters are so enduring.  I loved how spunky Genni was.  She was willing to marry a stranger so her friend can escape an arranged marriage.  I loved the chemistry between Nasim and Genni.  This was a great book!

Again, another wonderful romance by Leslie North.  I enjoyed the storyline and the characters.  I loved how determined Christine was to help her father and how much Arif loved her.  This was such a great book!

What a Highlander's Got To Do by Sabrina York

This was a great read.  I loved the characters.  I have read several of the books in the series when Isobel was younger and she finally got her HEA.  I liked how Nick knew he loved her and Isobel was the one that took a while to realize that she loved Nick.  It is great to have a book where the supporting characters are from other books.  It's like visiting old friends.

This is a highly recommended read!

G is for . . . by L. DuBois

Sejal belongs to Las Palmas along with her Master Sato.  The club has a new game where everyone and their partner is assigned a letter and they must explore the items on the BDSM checklist that start with the letter.  The letter Sejal and Sato draw is "G" and the first item is "given away".  Sato gives Sejal away to Dom Cortland Dowell so he can participate in "H".

This is the first of the BDSM Checklist books that I have read.  The book was amazing!  I loved the idea of exploring things that are out of one's comfort zone.  I liked how Sejal and Court clicked and how their relationship developed.  I need to go back and get A - E.

A Lady's Honor by A.S. Fenichel

Phoebe Hallsmith missed out on the marriage mart to care for her ailing grandmother in Scotland.  She had a short-lived engagement that was broken.  Phoebe now works as an employee of the Everton Domestic Society of London.  She has been disowned by her eldest brother and mother.

She accepts an assignment to help Markus Flammel.  Markus was married to one of Phoebe's best friends who died in childbirth.  Now, Markus has lost himself inside a bottle and his daughter will not speak.  In sweeps Phoebe to help Markus put his life back together.

As they work together, Markus has to learn there is more space in his heart for Phoebe and move past his loss.

This was a wonderful start to a series.  I loved the characters.  Phoebe was an amazing  heroine.  I loved her courage in setting her own course and ignoring popular convention.  Markus was the damaged hero that needed to learn to love again.  I liked how their characters meshed.  I can't wait for the next book!

Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon by Kerrelyn Sparks

Gwennore is an Elf who is Embraced.  She has grown up in the Convent of the Two Moons on the Isle of Moon with four other young girls who were left by their families.  They grew up as sisters.

Two of the sisters are married to kings of neighboring kingdoms.  As they gather to celebrate the Spring Embrace, Gwennore is escaping the scornful glances and hurtful insults by going on a flower picking expedition with Eviana, one of her sister's daughter.  When Eviana is taken by a dragon, Gwennore attempts to rescue her.

They are taken to a faraway kingdom where she meets General Silas Dravenko.  Gwen discovers that there is an ancient curse that has poisoned the King and Queen.  She will do anything to save Eviana, so she promises Silas that she will help find a cure.  By staying, she is in close proximity to Silas and the desire brewing between them

Can she save a kingdom and find her own HEA?

I have loved this series since the first book.  This book was amazing!  I loved how it picked up with the first two in a seamless manner and built onto the next book.

I loved the characters in this book.  The side story with Silas' cousin needs it's own story.  The only thing this book needed was more dragons and more romance.  It was a slow build to the romance.  The book has more of a fantasy feel, which I liked but I needed more of the romance between Silas and Gwen.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
