One Night of Surrender by Darcy Burke

Valentine Fairfax and Isabelle Cortland met as she was the daughter of a head of a college at Oxford.  They started a forbidden relationship that ended way too soon because Valentine is a Duke and Isabelle is just the daughter of a professor.

Ten years later, Valentine has not forgotten Isabelle.  After a disastrous marriage, he vows not to be tempted to love again.  Isabelle is working as a governess due to being penniless after her husband's death.

When Isabelle turns up in his home as the governess of his houseguests, Valentine knows that he still loves her.  Isabelle's dream is to start her own school for impoverished girls.  Her dream is almost shattered by unscrupulous employers until Valentine rescues her.

Will Valentine be able to make Isabelle his Duchess?

I loved the characters in this book.  Isabelle was a strong heroine and Valentine her valiant rescuer.  The secondary characters blend in well and are great.

I liked how Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley are alternating books in this series.  This book blends well with the first book, yet can be read as a stand-alone.

One Night for Seduction by Erica Ridley

Caleb Sutton, fifth Duke of Coldhaven, and one of the Wicked Dukes has made a bet with his friend Thaddeus Middleton that he can find a husband for Thaddeus's cousin. What he doesn't know is Diana Middleton uses being a wallflower to lead a double life.  Diana's mission is to bring dishonest businessmen to justice.

As Caleb gets to know Diana, he discovers that they have more in common than they thought.  Diana is also determined to not fall in love with Caleb because he can end her mission.  She finds out that Caleb is the one Lord that can further her mission.

Erica Ridley is an amazing author.  I loved this book.  The characters were amazing.  I liked how determined Diana was to fix the injustices in her world.  Caleb was a great hero.  I liked the supporting characters.  The Wicked Duke reminded me of an upper class "Cheers".  Loved it.

Graham: The Broken Duke An Illustrated Romance by Jess Michaels

Adelaide Langford is leaving a double life. In the eyes of the Ton, she is a bluestocking wallflower. When she sneaks out of her aunt’s house, she is a celebrated actress.

Graham is starting to return to his old life after the humiliating loss of his longtime fiancée to one of his best friends. His other friends drag him out to the theater where he sees Lydia Ford and is instantly thrown into lust.

Graham does not know why the bespectacled wallflower attracts him as much as Lydia. He is torn and guilted by his feelings until he discovers Adelaide’s secret.

Can Graham save her from the danger that Adelaide was beginning to suspect?

The Broken Duke is the third in the series that revolves around a group of friends that are Dukes. I felt so bad for Graham in the previous book, but at the same time relieved because everyone deserves a spouse that loves them.

When Graham found Adelaide, I was thrilled. I love the characters in the book. While it is about Graham and Adelaide, the Dukes and Duchesses from the previous books make appearances and play a vital part.

This is a wonderfully written novel. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and can’t wait for the next book. Jess Michaels never disappoints and is one of my favorite authors.

I read this novel when it was first published.  To re-read it with Jenn LeBlanc's photos in an illustrated romance enhanced the book.  I loved how the pictures captured the novel.
