Menage on Moone Mountain by Bella Settarra

This is a difficult book to review.  I bought it because I read the sample from B&N and what I read I liked.  The more I got into the book, the more issues I had.  After a point, I just had to ignore and enjoy the book for being escapism.  After all, what town has the Sheriff and Deputies and members of the local BDSM club.  Along with the entire town as members too!

It ended up being a fun book once I ignored how loosely it was written.  The continuity could have been better edited.

Cupid Strikes Back by Trinity Blacio

This is one of those books that you just have to suspend reality.  So much is thrown at you in a short book.  Once you do, the book is lively and engaging.  It was a fun read.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley and the publisher.  Thank you!

Turbulent Waters by Melody Anne

Nick Armstrong is a Coast Guard pilot that is recuperating after his helicopter crashed into the ocean during a rescue mission.  Chloe Reynolds is his new physical therapist.  Chloe fights her attraction to Nick because of a secret.

This is the third in the series.  There could have been much more to the characters, but because of the length of the novel (I read it in an evening), there isn't a chance to delve into much beyond Nick attempting to seduce Chloe and Chloe turning him down. It felt like the author wanted to develop the story line about Chloe's history further but stopped.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you.

The Duke by Kerrigan Byrne

I have loved this series since the first book.  When I am done, it feels like I can finally take a breath.  I am swept into the book and I don't want to get out.

Imogen Prtichard was a young woman that was forced to work off her father's debt at the tavern where he had lost the family's money.  She is just a serving maid and one night she meets Collin "Cole" Talmage.  Cole has just had the horrible luck of being the youngest son and inheriting the title.  He is on the eve of battle and wants Imogen.

Cole was betrayed by a close comrade and is gravely injured.  He is brought to the hospital where Imogen works.  She is the one that figures out what is truly wrong.  When she is cast out by a vein doctor, she turns to a beloved patient who solves her problems.

Years later, Cole is still searching for the woman from the tavern while hating the woman that lives next to him, Imogen.

Loved this book!  I liked how the characters from the previous novels were part of the book.  There is such emotion in this book.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you!!!!

To Tame a Wild Lady by Ashlyn Mcnamara

I really liked the premise of the book, but when I started reading, I just found that it was unbelievable.  I could not get past Caroline.  Absolutely hated how ridiculous she was.

I received an ARC copy of this book provided by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you.

Between the Devil and the Duke by Kelly Bowen

I liked the characters in the book.  Angelique isn't the sitting in the drawing room miss.  She is out at a gambling club counting cards!  Alexander is the owner of the club.  He spots Angelique and realizes something is different about her.  I loved Angelique's backbone.

This was a great read.

Profited by Lacey Black

Reid Hunter had graduated from UNLV with a degree in business management.  He has spent the summer backpacking and is a two-day country music festival with friends.  This is the weekend before he starts working at his family casino.  Dani has just been dumped by her boyfriend who used her as a way to get to the festival.  When Reid meets Dani, the attraction is instantaneous.  Dani ends up in Reid's tent and almost burn it up.  In the morning, Dani is gone.

Eight years later, Dani Whitley and her family have moved to Las Vegas after her father's job transferred him there.  With the help of her family, Dani graduated college and started teaching while raising a young son.  Her son Ryan is going to be eight and he is starting to get curious about his father.  Dani sees a picture of Reid in the paper and works up the courage to visit him after school.

Reid is absolutely blindsided by seeing Dani again and doesn't react well.  He tracks her down several days later and the sparks fly.  The bonus is he has a wonderful son.

There were things that I liked about the book.  I liked Dani, Ryan and her family.  I liked how the book was fast paced and had a well developed story line.  I loved the connection between Dani and Reid.  And what a great father Reid turned out to be.

I wasn't a big fan of Ryan in the beginning.  It took a while for me to warm up to him.  I also would have loved to known the back story about the family casino. Did I miss something?  Ryan went from starting to work for his family in the prologue to having bought out the family business and destroying his father.  What happened?  I also want' a fan of the "you have to marry  my daughter to get to buy my business and it's in the contract."  That could have been done differently.

This is one of my favorite tropes.  I will be buying the other books in the series.

(Oh, and the guy on the cover isn't what I picture as a thirty year old Reid.  The hand holding the jacket does not match the body.)

Return to Flacon Ridge by D. L. Roan

Jonah McLendon has a perfect life.  He has a mom and three dads that love him along with a close-knit family.  His high school girlfriend has told him about her desire for a menage.  Jonah is comfortable in polyandry, he just didn't think he would fall for his best friend, Pryce.

When Chloe's brothers discover their secret, Jonah is beaten until he almost dies and Pryce is shipped off to a religious boarding school.  After he is healed, Jonah tells his family the biggest lie of his life and runs as far as he can get from Falcon Ridge.

A year and a half later, Jonah returns home only to find that Chloe is engaged to Pryce.  After what he believes is her betrayal, Jonah is determined to break up Pryce and Chloe.  Once the truth is revealed, it will change their lives.

I was taken on an emotional ride by this book with the evolution of the relationship between Jonah, Pryce, and Chloe.  There were a lot of hurdles that Jonah had to clear to reestablish his relationship with Pryce.  Pryce has a lot of walls that he has erected after living with his parents to keep his heart safe.

I love the characters in this series.   As a reader, there is an emotional investment in the characters in this series.  They aren't one-dimensional.  That is what makes this series great.  That said, the one thing that I didn't like was Cade and Daniel.  They just got their HEA and Cade has a year or less to live?  NOT FAIR!
