The Duke's Accidental Wife by Erica Ridley

The Duke of Ravenwood's life is orderly and he hides his desires for a marriage filled with love behind a cold mask.  Miss Katherine Ross is a wealthy socialite that is a patron of the arts that isn't afraid to create a scandal.  She doesn't want a husband or children.  Lady Amelia convinces Ravenwood to attend an auction at Katherine's museum.  When Ravenwood and Katherine are caught in what appears to be a compromising position by her cousin, they are forced to marry.  Can Ravenwood let Katherine into his life?

I have been waiting for Ravenwood to get his HEA since The Viscount's Christmas Temptation.  It was like an emotional roller coaster:  learning why Ravenwood was so cold and didn't like going out in society, why Katherine didn't want to have children.  When it was revealed that Katherine was reading Amelia's household journals so she could be the Duchess Ravenwood wanted, I was crying.  There were parts that I kept thinking "OK, this is it.  They will realize that they truly love each other." only to have another roadblock.

I hated when it ended because I wanted more.  I loved the character that Ravenwood was revealed to be.  I wanted HIM to get the HEA and have the family that was stolen from him.

My Tempting Highlander by Maeve Greyson

Ronan Sutherland was cursed by a witch and he needs to find the right woman to break the spell.  He has been trapped behind the mists of Loch Ness waiting for the right woman only to watch those that he loves die.

Mairi Sinclair is a time-traveling healer that preferes to live as a hospital nurse in Edinburgh.  Things change when a wolf darts in front of her car.  Mairi thinks she heals the wolf and when she returns with food, the wolf is gone.  Ronan is there.

Is Mairi the one that Ronan needs to break the spell?  Can Mairi realize that Ronan is the man she loves despite the half-truths he has been telling her about who he is?

When I started this book, it wasn't what I expected.  I almost put it down while reading the prologue.  I stuck with it and was glad.  I enjoyed the book and the author's twist on shifters.  The characters were well written.  I liked how Ronan had to keep digging himself out of trouble with Mairi.

I found out that this is the third in the series.  I am going to get the others now.

How to Wed a Warrior by Christy English

Prudence Whittaker is walking in Hyde Park when she sees a young lady drawing a claymore on a man.  She intervenes and meets Robert Waters and his sister.  Robert hires Prudence to teach his sister how to fit in with the English.  Prudence has been living by her wits since her brother disappeared and her family was ruined.

I loved the characters in this novel and the sub-plot of the mystery of what happened with Prudence's brother.  It was an engaging read.

Savage Nights by Mia Gabriel

I could not finish this novel because I couldn't stand Lord Savage.  I get that Evelyn had a horrid marriage to a man old enough to be her father.  Yet, she falls for another jerk.  Sorry.  I want to read a novel that I like the characters.

The Unforgettable Hero by Valerie Bowman

Cecelia Harcourt needs to sell the romantic novel she has written to help support her sister.  When she is hit by a coach on her way home, she looses her memory and believes she is the heroine of her novel.  She is rescued by Lieutenant Adam Hunt.  When Cecelia believes that Adam is her hero can he fill that role?

Valerie Bowman is normally one of my favorite authors.  I liked the synopsis of the novel but I thought that the book dragged.

How to Capture a Duke by Bianca Blythe

Fiona Amberly is an amateur archaeologist who wants nothing more than to uncover the Roman ruins by her house.  She had a disastrous two week Season and prefers to be a spinster.  Her dying Grandmother just wants to see her future secure so in a moment of panic, Fiona tells her that she has been secretly engaged.  Her cousin is having a Christmas ball and Fiona needs to produce a fiance.

Percival Carmichael didn't want to be the Duke of Alfriston but when his cousin died saving him, he has vowed to live up to his cousin's expectations.  He has retrieved the family jewels and is racing towards London to propose to the season's most eligible debutante.

Fiona attempts to warn a passing coach about a fallen tree in the road when the driver mistakes her for a highwaywoman.  When the driver flees, Fiona decides to use the passenger as her fiance.

I received this novel as an ARC.  I read the synopsis and thought that it might be an interesting read. There were several times when I was laughing because of the predicament Fiona got herself in.  Then I was almost yelling at the book because how can Percival walk away from Fiona.

I absolutely loved reading this book.  I loved Percival and wanted to smack Fiona's uncle.

What a Gentleman Wants by Caroline Linden

Marcus Reese, Duke of Essex, has had to bail his twin brother out of another mess.  This time, he is banishing David from London.  David flew out of his carriage while racing and he is brought to Hanna Preston's house, the vicar's widow, to recuperate.  Hannah has to find new living arrangements for herself and her daughter when the new vicar arrives.  David asks Hannah for her hand in marriage.  Only when the wedding register is signed, it is Marcus's name and signature.  David brings Hannah to his brother's London house and leaves her.

Now Marcus has to straighten out another of David's messes.  When Marcus's stepmother and sister arrive and discover he is "married", Marcus asks Hannah to play the part of his loving wife until the mess can be sorted out.  Marcus is attempting to solve a mystery and Hannah gets drawn into it.  The passion between the two sizzles.

What a play on the "trapped into marriage" theme.  David does one thing he considers honorable and attempts to reform then panics and signs his brother's name.  After Hannah and her daughter are dumped on Marcus, there is the slow, teasing buildup to Marcus figuring out that he can't live without Hannah.  I loved the sub-plot involving David.  It provided a great mystery.  This is a novel that I will reread several more times.
