Caught by the Scot by Karen Hawkins

Scottish privateer Conner Douglas has just learned that his sister passed away during childbirth and in her will, he has to marry a respectable, well-born woman to claim his inheritance.  Or, it will go to his family's enemies.

He decides to elope to Gretna Green with the sister of his childhood friend, Theodora Cumberbatch-Snowe.  However, Theodora is already on her way to Gretna Green with her fiancee.  Conner needs to marry Theodora and won't let her get away.

Theodora has been in love with Conner for years and has finally given up on Conner declaring he wanted to marry her.  She found a fiancee and now Conner is doing everything to stop her elopement.  Theodora is tired of moving due to her father's job and wants a stable home.  She knows that Conner can't provide that.  Conner will do anything to change her mind.  He sets a plan to get her to call off with the help of the crew from his ship.   On the way to Gretna Green Conner discovers that beneath Theodora's plain exterior is a passionate woman.

Will Connor get his HEA with Theodora?

I enjoyed the characters in this novel.  Theodora was a strong woman, having run her family's household due to her mother's illnesses.  Connor is the perfect man to give her the independence she craves.  I loved the way Connor kept attempting to stall the trip to Gretna Green.  This was a great read.
