Stroke of Luck by Opan Carew
This isn't my first book by Opal Carew that I have read. I haven't read any in a while and it didn't have the same quality as other books. There was just too much of the story that seemed unrealistic. Would a hotel go into a guests room and take belongings from the occupant of the room based on someone else?
Call It Magic by Janet Chapman
My first Janet Chapman book was her first Highlander book - "Charming the Highlander". I had every one of the series and have read all of the Spellbound Falls series. I was crushed to find out that Janet had passed in 2017.
I loved Katy. She was a strong woman that was trying to establish her own place within her family. Gunnar was just yummy. I thought the book was well written, but there were glimpses of what should have developed. Katy picked up on who Gunnar was, yet he didn't remember. I was hoping Gunner would remember who he was. My only hope is Penguin finds an author who can pick up this series and carry it forward.

The Earl and The Enchantress by Paullett Golden
I loved Sebastian. My favorite heros are the dark, brooding men that slowly learn that there is someone that will love them. I liked how the relationship developed between the main characters. Both Sebastian and Charlotte grew as characters as they fell in love.
This was a great start to the series.

The Lady is Trouble by Tracy Summer
While this book got off to a slow start, I thouroughly enjoyed reading a paranormal Historical Romance.
I liked the characters and their chemistry. I enjoyed the development of the book and can't wait for the next book in the series.

Before the Crown by Flora Harding
I love this glimps behind the romance of Elizabeth and Philip. The book opens with a performance of Aladdin starring Princess Elizabeth. The story shows what it was like for a shy girl to interact with the man she wanted to marry.
I liked how the story humanized the strong woman who is the Queen. As a fan of "The Crown" I liked seeing what happened before.

Taking the Lead by Tara Eldana
I had mixed feelings about this book. I liked the basic story - Jessa needing Reece and Ryan to help her find her birth father due to medical issues. I thought that the characters "played" at being involved in BDSM. The switching between doms and subs felt unrealistic. But, I liked the characters and the main story line enough to enjoy reading the book.

The Sinful Scot by Maddison Michaels
There is a trigger warning with this book - the heroine was in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship with her first husband.
When Constance Campbell was younger, she believed that all she needed to be happy was a duke. After her marriage, she discovered that her perfect Duke was a perfect monster. She has learned to hide his abuse from those around her.
Dr. Alec McGuiness is back in Scotland at a ball only because he was asked by a friend to check up on the woman he once loved. Alec remembers the sweet woman she was before her society debut and the self-obsessed woman she has become.
When the Duke is murdered in his sleep, with Connie sleeping next to him, Alex knows he must protect her from the people who are going to frame her for her husband's murder. Connie runs as they attempt to prove her innocence. She develops an attraction to Alec. Can they find love while trying to prove Connie's innocence?
I liked that Alec was able to put aside his presumptions to help Connie and discovered what the truth was. I was thrilled that Connie got a second chance at love with Alex.
