Stroke of Luck by Opan Carew

This isn't my first book by Opal Carew that I have read.  I haven't read any in a while and it didn't have the same quality as other books.  There was just too much of the story that seemed unrealistic.  Would a hotel go into a guests room and take belongings from the occupant of the room based on someone else?
