Wow! This was a book that left me on the edge. There were several parts that I wanted to scream at Mari and Lila for what they were doing to characters that I like. It is not nice to give your reader a heart attack in the middle of the book!
I loved the heroes in this book. Lancelot Knight and Hugo Marchand were the ideal matches for Sylvia Hayden. There is the intrigue that has been building since the first book. This book is masterfully written. There are characters that have been in the previous books that add depth to this book. I absolutely loved Eric and the introduction of Sylvia's brothers.

One Night of Surrender by Darcy Burke
Valentine Fairfax and Isabelle Cortland met as she was the daughter of a head of a college at Oxford. They started a forbidden relationship that ended way too soon because Valentine is a Duke and Isabelle is just the daughter of a professor.
Ten years later, Valentine has not forgotten Isabelle. After a disastrous marriage, he vows not to be tempted to love again. Isabelle is working as a governess due to being penniless after her husband's death.
When Isabelle turns up in his home as the governess of his houseguests, Valentine knows that he still loves her. Isabelle's dream is to start her own school for impoverished girls. Her dream is almost shattered by unscrupulous employers until Valentine rescues her.
Will Valentine be able to make Isabelle his Duchess?
I loved the characters in this book. Isabelle was a strong heroine and Valentine her valiant rescuer. The secondary characters blend in well and are great.
I liked how Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley are alternating books in this series. This book blends well with the first book, yet can be read as a stand-alone.

Graham: The Broken Duke An Illustrated Romance by Jess Michaels
Adelaide Langford is leaving a double life. In the eyes of the Ton, she is a bluestocking wallflower. When she sneaks out of her aunt’s house, she is a celebrated actress.
Graham is starting to return to his old life after the humiliating loss of his longtime fiancée to one of his best friends. His other friends drag him out to the theater where he sees Lydia Ford and is instantly thrown into lust.
Graham does not know why the bespectacled wallflower attracts him as much as Lydia. He is torn and guilted by his feelings until he discovers Adelaide’s secret.
Can Graham save her from the danger that Adelaide was beginning to suspect?
The Broken Duke is the third in the series that revolves around a group of friends that are Dukes. I felt so bad for Graham in the previous book, but at the same time relieved because everyone deserves a spouse that loves them.
When Graham found Adelaide, I was thrilled. I love the characters in the book. While it is about Graham and Adelaide, the Dukes and Duchesses from the previous books make appearances and play a vital part.
This is a wonderfully written novel. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and can’t wait for the next book. Jess Michaels never disappoints and is one of my favorite authors.
I read this novel when it was first published. To re-read it with Jenn LeBlanc's photos in an illustrated romance enhanced the book. I loved how the pictures captured the novel.

An Unwilling Earl by Sharon Cullen
Jacob Ashland is a successful barrister and amateur sleuth. He has unexpectedly inherited the title of Earl of Ashland. Before the Ton is aware he is an Earl, the guardian of Charlotte Morris begs him to find her missing niece.
Charlotte has run away from her cruel aunt's house in fear. When her maid disappeared, she started to suspect her cousin. Now, Charlotte is living in the Rookery fighting to survive. After Jacob saves her in the streets, Charlotte starts to realize that he may be the one person that can save her.
Jacob has been married before and lost his wife and newborn son in childbed fever. He has sworn not to marry again. Charlotte brings out his protective instincts and he offers her a marriage in name only. Before long, Charlotte finds herself falling in love with her husband and fearing her secret can destroy them.
This was such a well-written book! I loved the characters. Charlotte was such a strong young woman. Jacob was the tragic hero needing the perfect heroine to save him from the darkness in his life. I liked the murder-mystery subplot.

Detective Ryan Kennedy is the only bear shifter on the police force. He is investigating the cause of the "Detroit Flu" that is ravaging the citizens of Detroit. Francesca Wolf is the daughter of a rival clan's alpha. She knows who is poisoning the city and needs Ryan's help. As they work together to save the city, they discover an attraction that might burn the whole city!
This is one of my favorite shifter series. I was glad that Ryan got his shifter HEA. Frankie was the perfect mate for him. This was a great wrap-up to the series.

A Lady's Virtue by A.S. Fenichel
Sylvia Dowder is a strong woman. She was engaged to a man she thought she loved when he unexpectedly became a viscount and broke their engagement for a more "suitable" match to his new station. Sylvia became an employee of the Everton Domestic Society to maintain her independence and dignity. She vows never to fall for a titled man again.
Anthony Braighton was raised in America. After he unexpectedly inherited the title of Earl of Grafton, his mother and aunt are insisting that he needed to get married. Anthony is determined to remain single so he hires the Everton Domestic Society to provide a hostess and decorator for his upcoming parties.
Once Anthony meets Sylvia, he is captivated. She is smart and beautiful and determined to ignore the attraction between them. Anthony is determined that he has met his match in this Everton Lady.
Once I sat down to read this book, I did not stop. I liked Sylvia. She was a strong, wonderful heroine. Anthony was the perfect hero. I liked that he was an American and attempting to figure out the details of London society. The supporting characters were great. I felt bad for Syliva's twin living with their almost neglectful parents.
